Is anyone worth 150 mill?

Ah Roman Abramovich, you never fail to dissapoint a Chelsea heart do you? Latest reports claim that Abramovich will pay whatever price needed to lure Kaka to Stamford Bridge, even if this reaches the is up to 200 million pounds.Bravo Roman…..a round of applause to the Sir at the back who has no idea how to spend his money. But hey, maybe im the idiot, maybe 200 million pounds is nothing to my friend Roman. In that case I hope you get robbed.Perhaps theses reports are made up and have absolutely no substance whatsover to them,in that case I am the fool and am sorry Roman.

However lets be honest with ourselves and as a Chelsea fan i hate to admit it but Roman Abramovich has had a history of throwing ridiculously large amounts of money at teams in order to lure their star players. But this is modern day Football and everyone knows that money goes Football go round, so maybe its not his fault.Infact I am actually a great admirier of Roman and believe that what he is doing is great for Chelsea. If you think about it, he picked up the blues from financial vulnerability and built them to become one of the richest and greatest clubs in the world.

So whats the problem? Well the problem is : is anyone worth 200 million pounds? The answer a simple no. For 200 million pounds let me go through the list of players that we could have signed before the transfer window had opened. Here goes: Podolski,Schweinsteiger,Samir Nasri,Benzema,Ronaldhino,Eto’o,Torres,David Villa,David Silva,Jesus Navas,Daniel Alves,Sergio Ramos,Wesley Sneijder,Lulinha,Dos Santos……..the list goes on guys….

C’mon Roman so many fish in the pond why focus on just Kaka?

Chelsea FC/Transfer Talk

What a past few weeks the transfer window has thrown us.Out goes the hopes of Stamford Bridge recieiving Ronaldinho as it has been confirmed he has signed for Ac Milan for an estimated value of 16.7 million pounds. There goes that dream…….

However the press has speculated that the arrival of Ronaldinho will push Kaka towards Chelsea.Latest reports have suggested Chelsea are lining up a world-record breaking bid of up to 150 million pounds for the Brazilian. On Friday, in Brazil, Kaká’s assistant Diogo Kotscho said: “Real Madrid offered €90m [£70m] last summer and Milan did not even think about it. This time is different. This is the first time we feel a deal will definitely happen. Because of the [financial] situation Milan are in at the moment, the deal is good for all parties.” This is great news and Kaka would certainly be welcomed at The Bridge.

Further reports have speculated an almost ridiculous development in the Drogba saga.Latest reports have stated that Barca are ready to pay 25 million pounds for Drogba while selling Eto’o for around 20 million pounds to Liverpool. However as it is well known that Liverpool do not have the backing to fund this move they will sell Spanish wonder boy (and who I think is the best striker in the world) Fernando Torres (pictured) to Chelsea for an estimated value of 40 million pounds. An extraordinary transfer triangle but I for one would take Torres over Drogba and Eto’o anyday of the week.

Long live the Chelsea Army!!

Spain winning Euro!!

As a strong supporter of Spain from the start of the tournament,it gives me great pleasure to see Spain finally win the Euro….infact finally win anything.

A team with such great potential has been frustratrated for so long and have finally proved what they can do.So one must ponder the question as to why it took so long.Maybe something had changed?Well to start of with no Raul.At 30 the veteran striker was dropped with striking talent such as Villa,Torres and Guiza at Spain’s disposal. However he was never the problem and it is very hard to believe that Raul single-handedly ruined Spains chances of winning any silverware. Not only is this hard to believe but it would not be fair to the great man who has given so much to Spanish Football.

But perhaps the man who is responsible for Spanish glory is Marcos Senna. Not only did he have a great tournament but he was probably player of the tournament.Playing a defensive midfield role such as that of Claude Makelele who mastered it,Senna was impeccable in holding the midfield together and also the vital link to attack that Spain had missed for so long. The 31 year old Villarreal man whom has the worlds biggest clubs such as Manchester,Chelsea,Real Madrid and Bayern licking their lips, stole the show and has now become a Spanish cult figure.Although born and raised in Brazil and despite only recieving Spanish citizenship in 2006 Senna has not failed to make a massive impact on the Spanish game. Now that Senna and his Spanish side has won Euro 2008, and Senna ageing well into his thirties, Spain now have guidlines and can look forward as to what players to produce in the future.

LONG LIVE SPANISH FOOTBALL

Chelsea FC lineup

Chelse FC

This is something like what we should have when season starts. If anything Podolski,Schweinsteiger or anyone descent on the left wing instead of Ronaldinho.

Chelsea FC Update/Transfer Talk

Upon hearing that Roman Abramovich is ready to go on a spending spree with newly appointed Chelsea FC coach Luiz Felipe Scolari I have decided to write this post just to express my thoughts.

First of all I think Scolari is a great appointment however it is concerning that he has publicly stated that money was the main reason he chose Chelsea.Even more concerning is his statement that he would only like to coach Chelsea for another 5 or 6 years before retiring from coaching all together.Which is not suprising as money is what makes Football go round these days…..This is not easy on the ears as many Chelsea fans such as myself were looking for a long term appointment. However, pushing this aside we can look forward to a good 5 seasons with Scolari that will hopefully bring us in excess of 10 trophies.

Among these, the Champions League must be top of the list after the very unfortunate final in Moscow just a few weeks back.I must stress that I do not hold John Terry accountable for that loss but rather Didier Drogba whom if had not slapped Tevez would have taken the 5th penalty to win us the European Cup that we have been desperate for so long.

Now to the transfer window and although Chelsea may sign up to ten new players and completely reshape the squad, in reality we just need two players for the starting eleven.A striker to fill the shoes of the departing Drogba (whom i hope leaves) and the left mid possition to replace Mallouda, whom we should sell on to Barca as they seem keen.Striking wise the best option is David Villa, without a doubt. He has expressed interest for playing in England and Valencia seem to be in financial trouble and could be forced to sell the ace.Although Abramovich is looking to the likes of Kaka and Ribery to fill the left mid gap, all we need is the man whom nobody wants….Ronaldhino.I think he can hit his straps again at Chelsea and would benefit from playing under Scolari again as he did in the 2002 world cup.

Also Shevchenko should be starting alongside David Villa.

So in summary:

  • Mallouda – Out
  • Drogba - Out
  • David VIlla – In
  • Ronaldhino – In
